She taught at two schools that were built side by side. There were wa rm springs there (Near Arora). Gram grew up around there.

Gram was a nurse. She did nursing during the war and during the flu epidem ic.
She was occasionally involved in the Episcopalian church and sometimes t he Presbyterian church.

She was married to Richard Elliott Bolling Dr. in New York City, Kings Co, New York. Children were: Richard Elliott Bolling.

Mary Genevieve was born in the Thomas Roe house, address 2126 17th Ave, F orest Grove, Oregon 97116. (Gen was born in the same room her mother, An na Roe, was born in.)

Mary Cowan remembers stories Gen told about her family coming across in t he wagon train. One such was that Gen's mother, Anna, was 10 years old ( in 1852) when her family came. Her father started out as head of their wag on but through some mishap he was put in charge of the entire wagon tra in at some point in the trip. Anna's grandfather was then put in char ge of the wagon that Anna was in. Often she would be required to wal k. If she complained about walking, Ann's grandfather would give her somet hing to carry. That illuminated much of the complaints.

Mary Cowan said she heard Gen tell the stories so many times that she reme mbers them better than her own family's stories.
